Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror DVD
Movie Information
Your guide, on a bone-chillin' ride, through this hood's evil underside, is none other than, Snoop D-O-Double-Gizzle, the Hound of Hell fo' shizzle. That's right my friends, Tha Doggfather himself, Mr. Snoop Doggy Dogg.
In this horror movie anthology, Snoop Dogg spins three terrifying tales of life, morality, and fate. Here's a little tasty-taste of the tales that unfold...
The first story in Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror centers around a young female graffiti artist named Posie (Daniella Alonso). After a run in with a mysterious derelict (Danny Trejo), Posie is granted a strange and deadly power. Now, any tag Posie paints over causes the untimely demise of the original tagger. Will she use her new found power to clean up her neighborhood or will power and revenge get the best of her?
Hood of Horror's second story is about an over-the-top Texan, cleverly named Tex, Jr. (Anson Mount). Tex, Jr. kills his own father to recieve an inheritance. The catch is that now Tex, Jr. must live for a year with a group of beloved and loyal members of his father, Tex Sr.'s, old army unit. Roscoe (Ernie Hudson) serves as the groups unofficial leader, and wants to fulfill Tex, Sr.'s wish of teaching Tex, Jr. how to live an honorable life. Tex, Jr. and his new wife, Tiffany (Brande Roderick), have other plans however. They force the group of vets to become a renovation crew in order to pay off their debt; as Tex, Sr., while living, had been helping the group out financially. When Tex pushes the veterans a little too far, Roscoe gathers the troops for one last mission... a mission of revenge!
The third and final story in Hood of Horror's line up is about the rise of a rap star named Sod (Pooch Hall). Sod sets up the murder of his best friend Quon (Aries Spears) to help get in the media spotlight in order to boost his sales. When a mysterious venue manager pays Sod a visit, she forces him to watch scenes from his life, displaying the loyalty of the friend he has just murdered. She then grants Quon the power to return as a ghost/zombie, in order to exact his revenge. However, the ending to this tale has a twist...
Hood of Horror writers, (Jonathan McHugh, Tim Sullivan, Jacob Hair and Chris Kobin), seem to be paying homage to the old school "Tales From the Crypt" series, with a "Tales From The Hood" influence. The stories that unfold in Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror are the same type of moral-testing story lines that were popular in the "Tales" series. Hell, Snoop is even referred to as the "Crib-Keeper" (a word play on the name of the Tales host, the "Crypt Keeper"). Another similarity, is that these stories have their fare share of campy humor and gore.
Overall Hood of Horror is a good time. It's definetly not meant to be taken seriously though. One of the best things about this movie is Snoop Dogg as the host. With his witty insights and charming personality, Snoop Dogg does not disappoint in his role as the Crib-Keeper. Snoop asks the viewers early on in the film, "Are y'all ready for some crazy shit?"
Well, are you?
